On June 16, the Degree Conferment Ceremony for the 2026 Master's Graduates of the School of Economics and Management was grandly held. Qu Yan, Member of the Committee and Chairof the Discipline InspectionCommittee of Beijing University of Chemical Technology (BUCT), attended the ceremony. Also present were Gao Hongxia, Chairof the School of Economics and Management(SEM); Li Bin, Vice Dean presiding over overall administrative work of SEM; Vice Deans Sun Xiangdong, Chen Na and Tang Zhisong; Tian Jun, ViceChairof SEM; Professor Wu Weihong, faculty representative; supervisors, graduate counselors, andthe 2026 master's graduates and their families. The ceremony was presided over by Gao Hongxia.
On behalf of the School, Professor Li Bin extended warm congratulations to all master's graduates who have successfully completed their studies and are about to embark on new chapters of life, and expressed sincere gratitude to faculty members who have devoted themselves to nurturing the students and family members who have accompanied and supported them along the way. He fondly recalled the graduates'striving journeys during their postgraduate studies at BUCT, marked by dedicated research, perseverance amid difficulties and pursuit of excellence. Against the backdrop of the AI era featuring rapid knowledge iteration and evolving career trajectories, he encouraged the graduates to uphold self-respect, retain curiosity, think independently, cultivate resilience, shoulder responsibilities and stay grateful. He urged them to embrace patriotism and stay grounded in their future lives, integrate personal aspirations into national development and social progress, and strive to become warm-hearted, competent and responsible young people of the new era.
Vice Dean Tang Zhisong read out the Decision of the School of Economics and Management, Beijing University of Chemical Technology on Commending Outstanding Graduates of the Class of 2026.
As a faculty representative, Professor Wu Weihong delivered a speech, offering heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to the graduates stepping into new journeys. She revisited the youthful days of the students at the School of Economics and Management, filled with data research, intellectual exchanges and steady growth. She shared three core aspirations with the graduates: Master Intelligence, Walk the Talk, Uphold Morality. She hoped that in an era where artificial intelligence is profoundly reshaping the logic of economic and social operation, the students could leverage technology without being dominated by it, and maintain independent thinking and critical minds. She encouraged them to root themselves in practice and take steady steps forward, honing real expertise through long-term commitment; to uphold integrity and honesty in all deeds, and strive to become BUCT SEM alumni trusted by others, reassuring to their families and sources of pride for their alma mater.
Huang Jieyixiong, graduate representative, looked back emotionally on his nine years of youth spent at BUCT. From academic pursuit at the School of Economics and Management to military service that forged his character, his growth and transformation have been witnessed by the university and the School. He led fellow graduates in recalling unforgettable milestones: the launch of the new campus, the university's 60th anniversary celebration, activities for the 70th National Day, and the BUCT men's basketball team reaching the Top 4 of CUBA (Chinese University Basketball Association). He wove together shared memories of the Class of 2026 master's students with scenes including flower beds in front of the library, the illuminated university name sign on Yuping Hill, and late-night silhouettes on Qinmin Road. On behalf of all graduates, he conveyed sincere thanks to supervisors, counselors and family members, and called on all alumni to uphold the university motto and demonstrate the demeanor of BUCT SEM alumni on broader stages ahead.
Subsequently, outstanding graduate representatives presented bouquets to their supervisors, paying the most sincere tribute to their mentors'guidance and companionship, and conveying heartfelt gratitude and well wishes.
Vice Dean Sun Xiangdong read out the list of candidates awarded Master's degrees by the School of Economics and Management, marking the official start of the degree conferment session. The 2026 master's graduates stepped onto the stage one after another to receive the traditional hooding ceremony, while the attending leaders and faculty representatives presented their degree certificates.
At the close of the ceremony, all faculty and students took a group phototo freeze this meaningful moment and preserve the collective memories of the 2026 SEM graduates.
