To advance key tasks for AACSB international business accreditation and ensure high-quality completion of the Gap Analysis Report and Initial Self-Evaluation Report (iSER), the School of Economics and Management convened an onlineseminar on the AACSB accreditation on October 30. Professor Tyler Yu, AACSB official accreditation mentor and Dean of the School of Business, Georgia Gwinnett College, joined the meeting online to provide professional guidance. Dean BinLi, Vice Deans Xiangdong Sun and Na Chen of the School of Economics and Management attended the seminar. All members of the school’s AACSB Accreditation Working Group were in attendance.

At the meeting, the AACSB Accreditation Working Group presented the progress of accreditation work to date. Since the AACSB accreditation meeting in July, the Group has benchmarked the nine standards under three AACSB modules and completed an initial mapping of gaps in the school’s development, laying foundation for subsequent rectification and improvement. All Group members introduced themselves in turn. Professor Tyler Yu gained a fuller understanding of the accreditation team to support targeted guidance going forward.

Professor Tyler Yu delivered systematic guidance covering the drafting of the Gap Analysis Report, compilation of the Initial Self-Evaluation Report and timeline planning for the accreditation process. He commended the existing gap analysis framework and staffing arrangement developed by the school, and put forward key operational requirements based on hands-on AACSB accreditation experience. First, refine the gap analysis checklist: it was recommended that gap items be further detailed in light of the school’s realities to ensure all improvement initiatives are actionable. Second, maintain consistent logic throughout the reports; all documentation should feature cross-references to guarantee coherent reasoning. Third, reinforce faculty engagement: assign responsible faculty members for each identified gap to consolidate the foundation of the work.

On behalf of the school, ProfessorBinLi expressed gratitude to Professor Tyler Yu for his guidance. He noted that AACSB accreditation is more than an international assessment exercise; it represents a critical opportunity for the school to align with world-class business schools and comprehensively upgrade its teaching, research, social service and internal governance performance. He stressed that AACSB accreditation is a collective undertaking for the whole school. The school will allocate ample resources to support the accreditation drive and mobilize faculty across departments to contribute to document compilation and institutional development.

This seminar helped realign the work schedule for AACSB accreditation and clarified upcoming milestones and phased deliverables. By leveraging accreditation to foster high-quality, intensive development of its business programmes, the school will continue to strengthen its capacity for internationalized education.
