Introduction
This discipline was awarded the right to grant the Master's degree in 2000. Under the discipline of Management, Business Management is a secondary discipline under the primary discipline of Business Administration. The research directions of the discipline of Management mainly include strategic management, marketing, HR management, financial management, innovation and entrepreneurship management. In recent years, for the discipline, we have undertaken a number of national, provincial and ministerial research subjects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the National Social Science Foundation of China, etc. and practical application projects for large and medium-sized enterprises. Moreover, we have published tens of academic theses on some significant journals such as Management World, etc.. With regard to this discipline, in the process of training graduate students, we emphasize the combination of teaching and research, theory and practice, campus education and social service, focus on inter-discipline and innovation, pay attention to the cultivation of foreign language competence and measurement statistics competence, fully promote the ability of students to analyze and solve existing problems and help students become excellent talents in the course of serving economic and social development.
Ⅰ.Training Objectives
1. Disciplinary Expertise
This discipline cultivates high-level management talents who adhere to the basic line, have a sense of national mission and social
responsibility, have a sense of innovation and adapt to the needs of socialist market economy. This discipline requires a solid theoretical foundation of management and economy and systematic professional knowledge, knowledge of related disciplines, and familiarity with the cutting-edge development of the field. They are more proficient in mastering a foreign language, and can read foreign language materials in their own specialty and write English papers. Master the knowledge of measurement and statistical analysis, skilled operation and application of statistical analysis software. Master modern management methods and techniques, and be able to independently engage in practical management work and theoretical research work. Upon graduation, students will be able to be competent in teaching and research work in colleges and universities, scientific research institutions, or management work in human resources, marketing, financial management, strategic management and other aspects of enterprises.
2. Understanding and Perception of China
International students participating in this program should become familiar with basic knowledge of China's history, geography, society, economy, and culture. They should also gain an understanding of China's political system and foreign policy, comprehend the core values and public ethics prevalent in Chinese society, and develop a strong sense of legal awareness and moral consciousness.
3. Language Proficiency
The primary language of instruction for this program is English. International students in this program should be able to use English to complete their academic and research tasks and work in fields related to their discipline. By the time of graduation, international students should have Chinese communication skills, including basic listening, speaking, reading, and writing abilities. They should be able to conduct brief exchanges on everyday life, study, and work topics, and handle routine social interactions.
4. Cross-Cultural and Global Competence
International students in this program should develop awareness, knowledge, attitudes, and skills that enable them to embrace, understand, and adapt to cultural diversity. They should be able to contribute to mutual respect, understanding, and solidarity among different groups, societies, and nations. Additionally, they should cultivate a certain level of international perspective within their field, be capable of applying their professional knowledge and skills in practical settings across various countries, and have the foundational ability to engage in international exchanges and cooperation.
Ⅱ.Main Research
1. Strategic Management and Organizational Behavior
Including strategic analysis, strategy selection, strategy implementation and strategy control for enterprises, as well as understanding and predicting the behavioral patterns of individuals, teams and organizations, understanding the loyalty and satisfaction of employees to the organization, and improving organizational performance.
2. Human Resource Management
Including human resource planning, recruitment and allocation, training and development, performance management and motivation, compensation and welfare management, labor relations management, employee relations management, corporate culture cultivation and other research content.
3. Financial Management
Including corporate governance and financial performance evaluation, asset evaluation and financial analysis, capital market and financing, investment management, dividend policy, merger and acquisition control and reorganization and liquidation of enterprises and other research content.
4. Innovation and Entrepreneurship Management
Including the design of innovation strategy, innovative organizational form, innovative process management, innovative system and culture, open innovation design and management, innovative resource management and knowledge management, innovation capability and innovation performance. It also includes research on entrepreneurial orientation, elements and processes of entrepreneurship, entrepreneurial motivation and entrepreneurial team management, entrepreneurial ability, and corporate entrepreneurship.
The credit system is implemented for academic master's degree candidates. The minimum total credits shall be 44 credits, with 33 credits for degree courses, 1 credit for each of thesis proposal, mid-term inspection report, academic and moral education activities ascompulsory sections , with test scores not included in GPA.

Ⅴ.Required Modules
1. Entrance Education
Freshmen must attend the entrance education organized by the School of International Education within the specified time after enrollment and pass the assessment before the follow-up modules.
2. Thesis Proposal
A Thesis Proposal consists of Literature Review and Research Proposal.At least 25 significant references at home and abroad shall be read before a thesis proposal is written.The Literature Review summarizes the previous work related to the subject.The Research Proposal demonstrates the significance of the subject chosen, research content, expected goal, research method, implementation plan and so on.The Thesis Proposal must be read out and receive an oral defense at the Review Panel.The Review Panel shall be composed of at least three teachers with senior professional titles. It is advocated to invite the experts from other units to participate in the procedures.After hearing the Thesis Proposal, the Review Panel will make a resolution of Pass or To Revise.The graduate student who is instructed to revise the Thesis Proposal must carry out the revision within two months and submit a written report to the Review Panel without making further oral defense.
3. Midterm examination
The students to be inspected are the master's degree candidates in the fourth semester. The School holds two midterm examinations a year, which are completed by June 30 and by November 30 of each year.Each student is required to submit a report on the working stage for the thesis, including the phased results of the thesis, the contents of the continuing research, the existing problems and the time to complete and the expected results of the thesis.A student who has two articles published or accepted may be exempted from midterm examination.For more details, see the Rules for the Implementation of Midterm Examination on the Theses of Master Students at Beijing University of Chemical Technology.
4. Academic and Moral Education Activities
Participation in academic and moral education activities is an important way for graduate students to develop their innovative abilities, keep up with the forefront of science, broaden their knowledge, foster a sense of integrity, and enhance their overall quality. Master's degree candidates are required to participate in a specified number of these activities during their time at the university.
Master students are required to participate in at least six academic activities during their studies.Master students' attendance at an international or national academic conference and reading out their theses would be deemed as participation in an academic activity.After participating in the activity, the student shall write a summary of not less than 400 words, and fill in the Record Book of Postgraduate Academic Activities of Beijing University of Chemical Technology, which shall be reviewed by his/her supervisor and stored in his/her degree archive.
5. Curricular Practical Training
Master's degree candidates pursuing an academic degree are required to participate in and complete a certain amount of practical work during their studies. This can include undergraduate classroom teaching, tutoring, guiding laboratories, supervising internships, or overseeing graduation projects (theses). Alternatively, it can involve engaging in social practice, employment practice, leadership practice for members, volunteering or other forms of labor practice. The workload should be equivalent to 20 class hours.
The master's degree candidates who have taught one or more undergraduate courses in regular institutions of higher learning or those that have been authorized and directed by enterprises can be exempted from internship and practical training.
6. Research on Thesis
The thesis is an important part of comprehensively cultivating master's degree candidate to establish a rigorous scientific style, master the basic methods of scientific research and develop independent working abilities. The master thesis shall be completed by master students independently. For the cooperating research project, all participants shall work on their own master thesis based on their individual research. For the cooperating research project, detailed explanations shall be provided.
7. Oral Defense
Master's degree candidates must complete the writing of their thesis according to the requirements of their training program and participate in various stages such as academic integrity review (plagiarism check), review, and oral defense. The specific requirements for each stage are detailed in the Measures for the Implementation of the Review of Academic Norms for Graduate students' Academic Dissertations at Beijing University of Chemical Technology (Revised), the Measures for the Random Review of Graduate Theses at the College of Chemical Engineering of Beijing University of Chemical Technology (Revised Edition), and the the Rules for the Implementation for Conferring Doctor or Master Degrees at Beijing University of Chemical Technology.

The time interval between proposal, midterm examination and oral defense shall be no less than five months.
Ⅵ.Degree Application
Upon graduation, international students studying in China should have attained at least Level 3 proficiency according to the International Chinese Language Proficiency Standards. The procedures should also comply with the Rules for the Implementation for Conferring Doctor or Master Degrees at Beijing University of Chemical Technology.
